We can repair your denture when broken or cracked, or replace a broken or lost tooth or clasp on it, usually same day—assuming we have your tooth in stock if it needs replacing. Even if we need to order the tooth, it usually comes within a day or two. Give our office a call to let us know of the problem, and most of the time we just say, “No problem, you can drop it off anytime.” But, in general, minor repairs do not even need an appointment: you can just drop in with your denture.
Time to Complete a Denture Repair
When you or someone drops it off, your denturist will have a look, and often just says, “No problem, I can have that ready for you in 2 hours,” and you then can come back anytime after that ready-time to pick up the repaired denture. On average, repairs take 2-3 hours, depending on how busy we are and because the pink repair acrylic needs to go through a curing process to make it hard, which takes time. So keep in mind of our closing time.
Unfortunately, sometimes a broken denture is beyond repair. For example, if your dog got a hold of your denture and tore it to pieces, you are probably unfortunately looking at needing a New Denture—it does happen: dogs and cats love dentures, because of the food smell. This is why you should keep your dentures in your bath container when not in your mouth.
Number of Appointments
Repairs
(usually same day you call, 2 appointments)
Repairs can usually be done on the same day you call or drop in, or the next business day if you call after hours. Most repairs require two appointments on that same day, the first where you drop off your denture, and the second usually 2-4 hours later when you can pick up the repaired denture:
The drop-off of the broken denture usually can be done by anyone; the patient doesn’t have to do it themself. Many repairs do not even require the patient themself to pick up the repaired denture, though it sometimes is helpful with some kinds of repairs for the patient to try in the repaired denture in case an Adjustment is needed.
