COVID-19 Special Notice: The office is OPEN. ADDITIONAL GOOD NEWS: Per the latest public health measures from the Ontario Ministry of Health, special Covid protocols are no longer in place. You may wear a mask if you wish, but you are no longer required to do so. However, the denturist will still be wearing a mask when working on you, for the general health protection of both of you. At the present time, we are no longer screening for Covid-19 symptoms.
The Grantham Denture Clinic is fully compliant with the Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) measures published and enforced by various levels of government, departments and agencies. We take our responsibility to our patients very seriously. As part of the community of Registered Denturists and clinic staff, we are committed to help prevent the spread of infectious microorganisms and will help to inspire confidence in our patients that they are receiving safe and effective care when they visit the Grantham Denture Clinic.
Immediately upon entering our clinic, you will see our two dispensers of antibacterial, alcohol-based hand sanitizers, one on the wall at the door and one in a bottle on the front desk countertop. You will also not be able to miss our standard plexiglass protective barrier between patients and reception personnel. All contact surfaces in the waiting room & reception, operatory (where the dental chair is) and washroom are routinely cleaned and disinfected—wiped down regularly with industrial-stength anti-bacterial disinfectant.
If still mandated by our governing board, the College of Denturists of Ontario, and the government, you will be screened by reception regarding your Covid-19 exposure and symptoms, and possible other respiratory illnesses, and possibly sent home to reschedule your appointment at a later date should your answers indicate possible exposure or if you are experiencing symptoms of such problems as influenza or a bad cold. This is both for the safety of other patients and clinic staff as well as for your own health and recovery. If your denture issue if of an urgent nature, every effort will be made to separate you from other patients by either scheduling you to come in after hours or seating you in the operatory as soon as you arrive to minimize exposure to others in the waiting room. You can keep up-to-date with Covid-19 measures at the top of this page.
Though mandatory masking requirements may be lifted at present time, your denturist will continue to wear a mask (and any other personal protective equipment if necessary) while seeing you in the dental chair as has always been the case—to shield each of you from exposure to potentially infectious material and the transmission of microorganisms from the other. But you are free to choose yourself whether to wear a mask or not, and can request other clinic staff to wear a mask during your visit. We want you to feel comfortable and safe at all times.
Your denturist, and any help provided by an assistant, will also always wear Nitrile examination gloves when carrying out any examinations or procedures on you in the dental chair. All reusable patient-care items, such as different dental/denture instruments, handpieces and intraoral equipment and devices that come into contact with mucous membranes of the mouth are always thoroughly cleaned, disinfected and sterilized between different patients. It also goes without saying that your denture is cleaned and disinfected prior to your denturist placing it in your mouth. All guidelines to the cleaning and disinfecting of various lab equipment, tools and instruments are strictly followed.
