The policy at the Grantham Denture Clinic is that all outstanding payments by the patient are due at the Insertion or Denture Pickup appointment, when they take home their finished denture—whatever the procedure(s). When you have decided to begin treatment for any type of denture construction, a deposit would be required. If a Cast Metal Framework Partial Denture has been decided to be constructed, then a deposit is required in the amount of approximately $200 (the cost of the metal frame from the lab) to cover the expense at the time of the impressions. If you have insurance coverage and we have the results of what the insurance pays, then your balance would be needed up to 50%.

Dental Insurance
If you have Dental Insurance, then usually we would send away a Predetermination (Estimate) to your insurance company (electronically, online, fax or by mail—depends on which method your insurance company accepts), before we start the work, to see what their coverage is for the procedure in question. Sometimes we get that an answer back immediately, though usually it takes 1-6 weeks, depending on how busy your insurance company is. As soon as we hear back from them, we can let you know what your portion would be for the procedure, after what your insurance covers; or if you hear back from them, usually via a letter in the mail, then you can contact us about the results: if insurance is covering some or all of the payment, then you can bring that letter with you to your next appointment for us to photocopy. From the Predetermination results, you can then use this information as part of your decision-making process if you so wish on whether you would like to proceed.
On your last (Insertion or Pickup) appointment, we will send off the actual Invoice to your insurance company for their portion based on the Predetermination, and collect from you your payment of your portion. However, sometimes (not often) an insurance company pays differently from what they said they would pay in the Predetermination results. If this is the case, then we will need to contact you to let you know there is either an outstanding balance (if insurance paid less than expected), which you are responsible for, or a refund coming (if they paid more), or we could put your refund towards your next future procedure. If the electronic Invoice results came back immediately with you still in the office, and the amount is different than the Predetermination results, then we will just adjust your portion that we collect from you accordingly.
Financial Help
Financial help may be available through three possible programs if you meet their criteria. But please note that it is still unclear whether #1, the federal plan, will replace #2 and/or #3:
Receipt
At the minimum, you will receive a computer print-out of your receipt, outlining not only all of your payments for this particular service and how they were made, but also details of the service that we provided. You can use this receipt and all others from us to claim all your payments to the Grantham Denture Clinic during the current calendar year as an eligible medical expense deduction on your income tax return.
